Dr Mumbo is a massive fan of word searches, but admits even he would probably not have spotted this nugget, possibly hidden by a disgruntled sub in The Sunday Telegraph’s kids section.
Although it is supposed to be a search for Indonesian wildlife one “unfortunate” word combination spells out LIVESIHCODRUM, or MURDOCH IS EVIL backwards.
While it doesn’t stipulate which Murdoch it is referring to Dr Mumbo assumes it is not the character from the A-Team.
Certainly The Sydney Morning Herald, which broke the story, took great glee in likening it to the “satanic backmasking” synonymous with bands like AC/DC and Led Zeppelin.
“So was it a mistake? A coincidence? Is a “LIVESIHCODRUM” a new Indonesian species? Or was Harry the Dog trying to tell us something?” asked reporter Tim Elliott.
Dr Mumbo wonders whether Fairfax now has a dedicated team trawling through every Daily Tele wordsearch since 1983 to find other hidden gems.
UPDATE: Dr Mumbo now understands that the individual responsible was a contractor and not a full time News Corp Australia employee.
