Nailed it! The Block takes entertainment crown; Seven takes Monday

The Block on Nine topped entertainment on Monday, however, it was the Seven network that celebrated the overall nightly network share win.

The program aired to 835,000 metro viewers, also winning all three key advertising demos. Last night the season’s launch drew in 867,000 metro viewers.

Hamish Turner, director of 9Now & programming, told Mumbrella: “The Block tree change is reflective of what we’ve seen happen in society over the past two years where people are moving for lifestyle. We have a great cast of characters and this year we can say it really is the biggest Block ever! But at its core The Block is just really good television.”

“As for the ratings, it has delivered above expectations. The Total TV footprint has seen strong increases across linear in metro and regional, and in BVOD. We are seeing a significant upswing on 9Now, up an incredible 68% year on year in Live viewers, which is reflective of changing audience behaviour.”

In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for 1 August, Seven News was the #1 program nationally across linear, with 1.589 million viewers, including 42,000 on BVOD, and an uplift of 3%. The biggest uplift of the week was an episode of Emergency on Nine with an uplift of 29% and aired to a total audience of 432,000.

Looking back at Monday’s ratings, next in entertainment was the last 15 minutes of The Masked Singer episode, where it showed the reveal on Ten, which aired to an average metro audience of 605,000, followed by The Chase Australia on Seven which was watched by 571,000 metro viewers.

Have You Been Paying Attention? on Ten launched to 569,000 metro viewers, followed by Back Roads on ABC, which brought in 485,000 metro viewers.

The Masked Singer full episode on Ten brought in a metro audience of 455,000 viewers, while Birmingham 2022: Commonwealth Games Day 11 Night aired to 445,000 metro viewers.

The second episode of My Kitchen Rules on Seven was watched by 408,000 metro viewers.

Meanwhile, Seven News was the #1 metro program on Monday with 1.008 million metro viewers followed by Seven News at 6:30 with 998,000 metro viewers, while Nine News at 6:30 brought in 906,000 metro viewers. Nine News pulled in 861,000 viewers.

ABC News brought in 622,000, and ABC’s 7:30 pulled in 477,000 viewers.

As mentioned, Seven won the night, taking an overall network share of 32.3% over Nine’s 28.9%, while Ten took an 18.6% share and the ABC had 14.6%.

Seven also won the primary channel share, and the top-rating multi-channel on Monday was 7Mate with a share of 7.3%.
