I blame the Negus necklace.
It’s just too creepy for primetime TV.

Bye says it all about media: very professional is now very yesterday and dull. Pity

When will TV wake up and realise that they’re going the way of newspapers ? People don’t want their homogenized drip-fed BS anymore. There’s a big wide world of *real* stuff out there.

Perhaps Negus could be on The Biggest Loser, that seems to be doing OK.

George is probably not sensationalist enough for the 10 viewers…

I’m a massive fan of the show, it’s nice to see intelligent current affairs on during primetime. I really hope Ten lets it live to grow an audience like it did with 7PM.
Plus the man is a legend.

George Negus is so “anti american” A few weeks ago he had a story about homelessness in the USA. At the end of the story he said that there is approx 300 thousand Americans sleep on the street every night. Now dont get me wrong that is awful. However you need to put it into perspective. The total population of the USA is over 320 million. In Australia its approx 23 million. In Australia there is approx 100 thousand homeless people every night. Do the math which country is really better? Also another point saying Sh*t at 6pm does not make you cool – especially if you are George Negus!!!!

@Marketing student
One thing you should remember is that it is very easy to just throw around a number like that without anything to qualify it. Seeing you say you’re a student i’d guess you just threw that coment down in between classes so you didnt read up too much, but I think many could see this as incorrect before you even look into it.
If you do a little reading from accurate sources, you will find that the US homeless problem, especially in places like California, is much worse than Australia. Of the 100,000 odd you quote in our country, only 16% of them actually live on the street or in an improvised shelter. The rest were staying in temporary accomodation or with relatives on census night in 2006.
From the 2008 AHAR report to US congress, the estimate was that there were approx 664,000 people identified as homesless in the US on a single night in Jan 2008, with 42% of them living on the street or improvised shelter.
God forbid you go into a PR agency, it is this sort of half-assed research and regurgitation of bad data that, when taken up by lazy journalists, gives a show like media watch so much ammo.
I know it has little to do with the article above but seeing that brought back flashes of the Daily Tele stories and bad media owner presentations to agencies I’ve sat through. Good luck with the rest of your studies.

@ex marketing student. You are right and even “blind freddy” could see that I did not research my comments. They are in fact my own opinions. A few facts about me. First of all I am only 18 years old. I have just completed my HSC last year (with my TER being 91.5%. Secondly, I will be starting university this year in the course which was first preference at the UNSW. So out of curiosity what do you do for work? Though I am a bit curious as to why you are an ex marketing student. Did you drop out of uni? Did you fail your subjects? Or have you graduated?
