New magazine for mining workers
A new monthly magazine will be launched next month targeting “fly-in-fly-out” miners and people working in the mining industry around the country.
The magazine, Inside Mining will launch from July 1 and will be distributed on seven airlines, including Rex, Alliance Airlines, Airnorth and Skytrans, which service Australia’s mining communities.
The 60-page monthly publication will be edited by Michelle Hespe and published Edge, which also publish an number of other titles include En Route, Australian Unity Health, and P&O Cruises Pacific Magazine.
“Inside Mining will be a completely separate publication, but it will take and replace the mining-based business news from OUTthere’s Regional Business Review”, Nick Mason, group advertising manager of Edge.
The publication will be a lift out within both OUTthere and Rocks magazines.
“While we don’t have any official numbers regarding readership, we believe Inside Mining will be the most read mining magazine in Australia,” Mason said.
Another monthly mining magazine, Coalface, has just made its debut. The free magazine was released by Shane Davey this month and will be marketed mainly toward miners working in the Hunter Valley.
its not possible to get any of the magazines on mining sites, its against policy…and for FIFO i would skeptical if the airlines new about it.
Mines in the Hunter have been closing…

Five years ago there were hardly any mining-focused magazines, now they seem to be proliferating like crazy.
The mining industry is already starting to decline, so it will be interesting to see whether the earnings these mags make will be sustainable. But based on what the market looked like only a few years ago, my guess is that some of these start-ups will eventually fold.
Good luck to Inside Mining though… hopefully they can make it work.
