SBS commissions film talent search Bollywood Star
WTFN Entertainment, the production house behind Bondi Vet and Keeping Up With The Joneses has won a commission from SBS to create Bollywood Star.
The four part series will follow the search for an Australian Bollywood star, with the winning unknown getting a role in a Bollywood film.
Bollywood producer and director Mahesh Bhatt is offering the place in his next film.
The commission of Bollywood Star is one of the first by SBS since new MD Michael Ebeid too the helm.
Ebeid said: “Bollywood Star continues SBS’s commitment to pushing the boundaries with commissioned content with this exciting take on the talent search format.
“The series will follow the hundreds of hopefuls who will audition for a part in a Bollywood movie as they’re whittled down to six finalists who will travel to Mumbai to immerse themselves in Indian culture and experience the glitz and glamour of the Bollywood movie scene.
“The final winner will be selected by Mahesh himself.”
Bollywood Star will air on SBS1 next year.
