News Magazines launch GQ Style

News Magazines has revealed GQ Style – a brand extension of GQ Australia focused on fashion and grooming for men.

The announcement:

The publisher of lifestyle titles for News Magazines, Mark Kelly, today unveiled GQStyle, the new brand extension to GQ Australia. GQStyle will be published as a stand-alone bi-annually publication scheduled for September and March, taking the annual number of issues of GQ Australia from six to eight.

Mr Kelly says: “The GQ Australia brand has shown phenomenal growth over the past year with its bi-monthly issues, website, digital application and events program. GQStyle will add to the brand’s success of being the number one premium men’s lifestyle title.”

GQStyle is an authoritative guide to men’s fashion and grooming with a comprehensive overview of the season’s trends. The target audience is men (of any age) who wish to broaden their style horizons.

Editor Nick Smith explains the editorial philosophy: “Our ambition is to explore every component of style, and feature the work of Australia’s best stylists, photographers and writers across the fields of fashion, fitness and grooming. It’s not just about clothes. We’re also interested in how trends play out in the worlds of music, visual arts, design and pop culture.”

The inaugural issue of GQStyle cover features successful Australian actor Ryan Kwanten who is taking Hollywood by storm in his role in hit series True Blood. Winner of the 2009 GQ Actor of the Year Award, Ryan talks to Nick Smith about the perils of global fame, the book he’s been working on and why he likes having ‘nothing to lose’.

When it comes to fashion there is something for absolutely everyone in GQStyle. Kylie Minogue’s Spanish supermodel boyfriend, Andrés Velencoso Segura, models the latest looks from Australian designers; we explore the cool appeal of French Riviera elegance; the next big things in Australian modelling show how to work the denim-on-denim trend; and in Strong Suits we provide compelling reasons why it’s time to ditch your tatty budgie smugglers for the tastiest trunks and boldest briefs.

GQStyle has summer grooming covered, from sensible artificial tanning options that won’t leave you looking like an orangutan, to new anti-aging serums and the versatility of the classic short back and sides. Thinking fitness, why not take on the training regime of a professional surfer this summer? It’s not as laidback as you might think.

GQStyle also reveals why cheese is the new wine, talks to ethical design’s pin-up boy Yves Béhar and looks at the trend for medical paraphernalia in interiors.

The launch issue of GQStyle is packed with 186 pages of the hottest trends.

On sale September 1, 2010.
