Nine ends Rescue Special Ops

Nine has decided to axe its fading homegrown action show Rescue Special Ops despite signs of recovering audiences, it is being reported today.

The network will not commission a fourth series, says the Sunday Telegraph.

Ratings had dropped to around half a million but with the help of inheriting a better audience from The Block had recovered to just over 800,000 last week.

Last year the show suffered the misfortune of becoming better known for a piece of plagiarism when a trailer turned out to be a direct lift from a Discovery channel promo for Bear Grylls’ Man vs Wild.

Earlier this year, Nine also axed its local drama Sea Patrol.

Nine’s most successful current homemade drama is Underbelly, with the latest version Underbelly Razor due to go to air shortly.
