Nine squeezes past Seven as Travel Guides nabs 712,000 metro viewers

Nine’s Travel Guides was the top-rating non-news program on Wednesday night, airing to 712,000 metro viewers and beating more fancied opponents Big Brother and MasterChef.

The new season, which features a mixture of international destinations filmed pre-COVID and local destinations filmed more recently, helped Nine to a network share win, with 27.4% just beating Seven’s 27.0%.

The episode saw the Travel Guides families explore Greece and managed to top all three key advertising demos. It was also the #5 show overall.

Among other entertainment programming, ABC’s Hard Quiz was the next best, bringing in an average metro audience of 623,000. That placed it ahead of Seven’s Big Brother on 558,000 metro viewers and Ten’s MasterChef Australia with 535,000 metro viewers.

Seven’s Home And Away continues to deliver strong numbers, with 620,000 metro viewers tuning in.

The sixth season of the ABC’s You Can’t Ask That premiered to 383,000 metro viewers. But Ten came in third in the network share stakes with 19.8% and of the ABC on 17.9%.

Seven News remains at the top of the overall rankings, drawing in 987,000 metro viewers to beat Nine News with 939,000 metro viewers. 681,000 metro viewers watched A Current Affair and 665,000 metro viewers watched ABC News.

Among the multi-channels, 10 Bold won the night with a 4.5% share.
