NRMA Insurance launches Help Nation Preparedness Month
This October, NRMA Insurance is kicking off Help Nation Preparedness Month – a national campaign aimed at helping communities across Australia prepare for extreme weather.
Through community events, workshops, and educational resources, the initiative seeks to ensure Australians are ready for the severe weather season.
The campaign is part of NRMA Insurance’s broader Help Nation program, which launched in November last year.
So far, more than 300,000 people have taken action to prepare for extreme weather through Help Nation.
NRMA Insurance has partnered with the Australian Red Cross, Lifeline Australia, NSW Rural Fire Service, and South Australian State Emergency Service (SA SES) to expand its reach and deliver preparedness education nationwide.
NRMA Insurance chief customer and marketing officer Michelle Klein highlighted the growing need for action.
“With extreme weather becoming more frequent and severe, it’s increasingly important for Australians to have a good understanding of their local weather risks and what steps they can take to get prepared,” she said.
“Our research shows more than 1 in 3 Australians do not feel prepared to respond to severe weather.”
As part of the campaign, NRMA Insurance NSW branches will offer complimentary solar torches for emergency kits, and Help Nation is partnering with Nine to broadcast educational content through television, radio, and digital platforms.
A new video series on YouTube will also provide practical advice on preparing homes for extreme weather.
Klein added: “As an insurer, we’re here to help when the unexpected happens, but we also strive to deliver value across the customer journey, and we know that educating and empowering customers on how they can minimise their risks is a key way we can help.”
Throughout October, Australians are encouraged to take simple steps to prepare their homes, attend workshops, and access online disaster resilience resources.
