Creative agency Oblong has collaborated with spiritual organisation, Brahma Kumaris, on a poster series designed to make Christmas goers more calm.
Oblong, with help people within the Brahma Kumaris, approached the posters’ development by speaking with art therapy experts and psychologists to ensure that the visuals are calming when read and viewed.
The posters were erected in specific locations where people would need them, such as shopping areas, parts of the CBD, suburban shopping centres and car parks.
“We love the calming shapes created by Oblong and the way they can create a little light for people at this very stressful time,” commented Brahma Kumaris’ director of programs and events, Gabrielle Martin.
Oblong’s founder and chief creative officer, Justin Ruben, weighed in on the posters, expressing his hopes that they will help people keep calm as they navigate through the stresses of Christmas.
“I think we can all admit, this year has been difficult for a lot of people, with the cost of living crisis and various world events,” Ruben said.
“Hopefully these posters can provide people with a little bit of calm, even when they’re running around the streets doing last minute Christmas shopping.”
The work comes months after Ruben officially announced the launch of his agency to meet the needs of creative and marketing professionals, while exemplifying flexible work.
“My inspiration for launching Oblong came from the desire to create an agency where we don’t just think about the work differently, but also the teams we put on projects,” Ruben had said of the launch.
“Oblong is designed as a flexible model, allowing us to bring in specialist people depending on the project. We believe bringing people in with diverse backgrounds will lead to different shaped ideas and we will always get the best in class talent, both locally and globally.
“I am also a big believer in creating culturally relevant work that creates impact for clients, and with the rise of AI, it’s important we come up with unexpected ideas that robots can’t.”
