Palau Pledge, The Block and blockchain take centre stage at the Mumbrella MSIX conference
Host/Havas CEO, Laura Aldington, and ECD, Seamus Higgins, will reveal the inner workings of multi-award winning campaign Palau Pledge at the Mumbrella MSIX conference in Sydney on November 9.
The pair will share the story behind the campaign which attempted to solve an environmental issue in the tiny Pacific Island nation of Palau, where tourists outnumber locals eight to one. The campaign ended up taking home three Cannes Lion Grand Prix and a D&AD Black Pencil.
Also joining the MSIX lineup is executive producer of The Block, Julian Cress. The TV series is one of the strongest performing regular series on Australian commercial TV and will soon return to the Nine for its latest season.
In a special Q&A, Cress will discuss the success of the show over the past 16 years while also exploring the ways in which it has changed the Australian renovation market. He will answer questions around the future of content, how it can be more engaging and the ways in which it can surpass entertainment and get people involved.
Advertising pre-testing will also be a hotly debated topic with a panel of senior industry leaders answering the questions of ‘how’ and ‘why’. Tourism Australia’s GM of creative, content and campaigns, consumer marketing, Susan Coghill, is the first to be announced to take part.
With so much confusion around the merits of advertising pre-testing, the panel will attempt to get to the bottom of whether the industry should be spending time and money on it.
Blockchain will also feature with a special presentation from Horizon State’s chief product officer, Jamie Skella.
Skella will tell the story of Horizon State, discussing how disruption, risks and opportunities all await in a blockchain future where energy supply is being decentralised and finance is being disintermediated. Most importantly, he will explain blockchain and its opportunities in plain English.
Mumbrella’s MSIX is curated by one of Australia’s leading advertising talents, co-founder of Thinkerbell, Adam Ferrier. It will take place at the Powerhouse Museum on November 9 in Sydney, with earlybird tickets on sale now.
