Pamela Anderson to front Ultra Tune’s 2020 ad campaign
US actor and activist Pamela Anderson is the latest international celebrity to lend her face to Ultra Tune’s local advertising push.
Anderson’s run as the face of the ‘Unexpected Situations’ campaign will begin in January, and she follows the likes of Charlie Sheen, Mike Tyson and Jean-Claude Van Damme.
CEO of the franchised mechanic business, Sean Buckley, said the campaign was a bit of fun, but this time around would involve women saving men – instead of the other way around.
The ads will pay homage to Baywatch, but Anderson is unable to wear the famous red swimming costume due to legal restrictions.
This is the eighth iteration of the Unexpected Situations campaign. The ads have frequently ended up in front of the advertising watchdog – Ad Standards – with complaints centring on the depiction of women as inept, and accusations of sexism and sexualisation.
Buckley has frequently defended the brand against such claims, arguing the ads are hyper real, a bit of fun, and most importantly, that Ultra Tune’s target clientele love the strategy and execution.
The Pamela Anderson ads will kick off in January.
What I want to know – who’s the EDC that churns out this mess? Rodney Rude? Kevin Bloody Wilson?

Now I know why an Ultra Tune franchise I used is no longer an Ultra Tune franchise

Look at the ultra PC easily offended brigade out early. Did you read what the client said? From what they know their customers love it. You’re probably not customers and not going to be. Appealing to your customers is generally a good idea.
And I’m sure the ads are why the franchise no longer is because that’s how business works. Ok, Boomer needs a cousin, Ok Snowflake.

Imagine understanding your core customer base and creating something that resonates with them?!
I’m actually surprised that media’s own god squad, Collective Shout, haven’t arked up here yet…

Yep – they are already arking up again – Collective Shout. Sadly, in this day and age unless you have a sterile and homogenized politically correct view of the world you’re either sexist, racist, out of touch, etc. etc. Pamela Anderson recently recently started the hashtag mentoo – apparently men no longer have the right to be masculine or have an opinion – one would suggest some reverse sexism going on right there.

For the slight masses that annually enjoy the UTA politically incorrect advertisements and applaud the company for thumbing it’s nose at the “acceptable standard” – stay tuned – Ultra Tuned – Pamela, Capper and the crew are back for another satirical, hyper-comedic giggle commencing January 2020.
Enjoy and laugh.

I actually never really had a problem with these ads as they do exactly what they should and resonate with your target. Plus the women who star are consenting, paid adults (I assume). But Rod, having just become aware of you, reading your comment paints the same narrow misguided picture of masculinity that in the end will be the downfall of that perspective. True masculinity isn’t about being free to exert your male gaze or needing to punch something. It’s about being man enough to not fall into the same behaviour as all our male ancestors who reduced women to the kitchen and the bedroom. Also, #mentoo is a joke. It sounds like the singular form of mentos. And no one wants one #mento.

Where exactly do you think the members of the ultra PC easily offended brigade are servicing their hybrid vehicles? I know – the service providers whose marketing doesnt include the most basic boring stereotypes of women.
Most auto manufacturers understand they need to appeal to women rather than alienate them. You think UltraTune would be able to do the same.

Reserve sexism – is that like reverse racism? As in it’s a thing invented by fragile white men when they feel threatened.
And your concept of masculinity is weak. Masculinity that relies on denigrating women isn’t really masculinity. It’s just scared little boys telling boobie jokes behind the shelter sheds.
Your ads are sexist and more important, boring.

Would be a small minority – I doubt Ultra Tune are sweating over this percentage of lost business!

The franchise was run by males and staffed by males who decided they didn’t sex to sell their services. And guess what their business is booming.

“AD” that is the beauty of a democracy – everyone can have and voice an opinion – our customers “vote” with their actions – Ultra Tune voted Canstar Blue Automotive Service Centre of the Year 2016, 2017 and 2019. Every year, post the screening of the annual Unexpected Situation TVC sales increase for 2-3 months between 20-40%, so apparently the “advertising” fuels interest in the brand – otherwise people would vote with their $$. In regards to me being misguided in relation to what I consider “masculine” or not – like you, I’m entitled to an opinion. The only difference I suppose is that I don’t hide behind a pseudo-name and am happy to freely express my position on the matter.
Kind regards

“Femmo” – is that your real name of something to hide behind whilst you type away furiously at your keyboard? Regardless, your opinion of me and/or Ultra Tune’s advertising is about as relevant as snow in the Sahara Desert. The “fact” is the advertising works – as indicated by an annual SIGNIFICANT uplift in sales numbers. Given (a) you have no transparency of those figures and (b) why on Earth would Ultra Tune do this annually if it didn’t work – are pretty compelling arguments that (i) your view of the world is sadly out of touch with the majority of the population – who vote with their $$ and (ii) majority of the population is sick to death of being “told” how they should and shouldn’t think and/or behave. Have a most pleasant 2020 and beyond Femmo and enjoy the latest installment of our Unexpected Situation “series” – which, if history is any predictor of the future, will continue into 2020 and beyond.
Kind regards

Nah mate, your world view is out of touch.
When you say that the “majority of the population is sick to death of being “told” how they should and shouldn’t think and/or behave” its actually entitled males like yourself who don’t like being called out on their boring and puerile jokes/laughs.
Keep dick-swinging about your sales figures tho.
