Nova hires mergers and acquisitions expert for strategy role

nathan reayLachlan Murdoch-owned radio group Nova Entertainment has signalled it will look to acquire some new assets by hiring Nathan Reay to the position of head of strategy and development.

Reay moves from Bauer Media where he has held the position of acquisitions director since August 2014. Prior to that he worked in mergers and acquisitions with PwC for 14 years.

Nova CEO Cathy O’Connor said: “We see a strong opportunity for Nova Entertainment to leverage its brands, audiences and expertise into new areas of growth for the company.

“We are delighted to welcome someone of Nathan’s calibre to Nova Entertainment at an exciting time in our development, to help us with that journey and to seize on the significant opportunities that lie before us.”

Reay will take up the role on July 18.

Big Mobile hires Emma-Jane Owens as APAC sales lead

emma-jane owensFormer Mi9 national sales director Emma-Jane Owens has re-emerged a year after leaving the Nine business as APAC sales leader for Big Mobile.

During her 25-year career Owens has worked for the likes of Network Ten, Austereo and latterly Nine Entertainment Co., heading up sales for the digital division. She exited there suddenly last August as part of a wider restructure of the business under then-new boss Alex Parsons.

Graham Christie, Group CEO of Big Mobile, said: “There are few individuals in the industry as experienced, accomplished and respected as Emma-Jayne. She will play a crucial role in the evolution of our market engagement, and generating growth through the development of highly-talented teams.”

Owens, whose title will be group sales director, added: “I am thrilled to be joining Big Mobile Group at such an important stage in the evolution of the company. As a trusted market leader in mobile with ambitious plans across Asia Pacific, the opportunity to lead the team to accelerate Big Mobile’s proposition across the region and the prospect of what can be achieved for clients is particularly exciting.”

Blue Hive ECD Richard Muntz departs for Berlin rolerichard muntz

Former JWT Melbourne executive creative director Richard Muntz is set to depart the country to join Innocean as chief creative officer for Europe, based in its new Berlin office.

For the past six months Muntz has been ECD of JWT’s spin off company Blue Hive, which is focused on the Ford Motors business.

Innocean is best known for its work globally on car brands Hyundai and Kia.

Technology and motoring journalist Harry Tucker joins Vodafone PR team

Harry TuckerTelco Vodafone has boosted its in-house external affairs team, appointing Harry Tucker to the newly created role of PR manager for enterprise business.

Tucker joins the telco after six months at Allure Media’s Business Insider Australia where he covered technology, telcos and motoring news.

Before that he was a technology reporter at News.com.au for just over two years.

Vodafone general manager of external affairs Anthony Flannery said in a statement: “Vodafone has a great story to tell, and we are delighted to welcome Harry Tucker to the team. We’ve always had a great working relationship with Harry, and we’ve found his professionalism and quality of work impressive. We look forward to having him on board to help tell the story about how Vodafone’s products and services offer a real alternative to Australian businesses.”

The role comes at a time when Vodafone is ramping up its proactive communications as it continues to seek more opportunities in the media to showcase the strength of its business.

Tucker will report into Michelle Quint, head of consumer and enterprise media relations.
