Perth radio ratings: 96 FM puts up a good fight, but Nova is back on top

Perth’s Nova 93.7 has surged back into the top spot, after being knocked from the top spot in the last radio ratings survey of 2019. The station gained 1.4 percentage points overall, jumping to a 14.0% share to become the most-popular station in the market.

Nova also gained in all timeslots except drive. Its syndicated Kate, Tim and Marty drive show fell 0.5 percentage points in the market, but still easily has the highest share on 14.8%.

Southern Cross Austereo’s Mix 94.5, which took the top spot in the last survey of 2019, fell to third place with a 3.5 percentage point drop in the market overall. The station held a share of 10.1% and saw drops across the board – the worst being a 4.7 percentage point fall in drive to 9.0%. The slot includes The Rush House with Tim from 3-5pm and Kennedy Molloy from 5-7pm.

SCA recently lost its Perth general manager, Gina Hogan, who relocated to Brisbane after maternity leave. ‘Captain’ Paul Shepherd also recently retired from the station after 30 years on the air.

Australian Radio Network’s 96 FM was the closest rival to Nova, climbing 1.6 percentage points overall in Perth for a share of 13.6%. Botica’s Bunch in breakfast grew 2.7 percentage points to 13.3%, holding second place behind Nova’s Nathan, Nat & Shaun who hold 15.5%. Mix 94.5’s Clairsy, Matt and Kymba dropped 3.9 percentage points.

In drive, 96 FM performed the best with a 2.9 percentage point climb to 12.6%. The slot includes Will & Woody from 4-6pm, followed by a syndicated ‘Hour of Power’ for Kyle & Jackie O from 6-7pm.
