PHD holds Pepsi media account after comprehensive review
PepsiCo has reappointed PHD to its media account after a review of the $25m Australia and New Zealand business.
The win by PHD continues the relationship with the soft drink company which began in 2010.
Omnicom-owned PHD retained the business after a shootout with WPP’s Mindshare.
A spokesperson for PepsiCo said there had been strong competition from the two agencies involved in the pitch.
“PepsiCo ANZ has completed a comprehensive media agency review,” the spokesperson said.
“We were impressed with the calibre of responses from both agencies involved. We are pleased to confirm that PepsiCo will be retaining PHD as its media agency. We believe they have the right team and a strong approach, and we look forward to continuing to work together.”
PHD will continue working on media strategy and buying across Pepsi’s brands including the Pepsi stable of drinks, Gatorade and Mountain Dew.
The appointment also comes as PepsiCo continues its search for a replacement for marketing director Tami Cunningham, who was recruited less than a year ago to replace Jenny Dill who had moved to the CMO role at McDonald’s.
Cunningham left the role after just six months and has since joined vitamin company Blackmores as marketing director for Australia and New Zealand.
