Some journalists might be under the misguided impression that they’re the gatekeepers of what they broadcast and publish.
They would of course be mistaken.
Some naive PRs might think there’s a nuanced give-and-take partnership with the media.
They’d be mistaken too
So Dr Mumbo is grateful to PR Kate Engler for putting him right.
In an email to promote her “Publicity Princess” workshop, she reveals that actually, she’s in charge: “Each year Kate Engler and her clients control hundreds of hours of TV and radio time, hundreds of pages of national, local and specialty newspapers and magazines.
Next time Ms Engler pitches a story, journalists please remember who is in control.

You can’t confuse ‘real journalism’ with Dr Mumbo, Princess, no more than you can confuse any of your industry’s press releases with being ‘real news’.

Really, it’s a collaborative process of professionals, is not that so?
You need to be able to communicate and write extremely well in both fields.
Princess of Pitches, now that is a title. How about Ms of Pitches, far more serious moniker, more the real deal.
