The contenders for the Priceline media account are thought to have narrowed, with three now left in the race for the $13m account, Mumbrella understands.
The agencies believed to be on the final shortlist for the discount pharmacy chain are incumbent Media Merchants, Initiative and PHD, with the next stage of the pitch expected to see the shortlisted agencies present to the client.
Earlier this week, Media Merchants announced it was opening a Melbourne office, where Priceline is headquartered.
However, Media Merchants said the move was not a reaction to the Priceline pitch which is among the agency’s biggest clients.

“No — the decision was made mid last year to open a Melbourne office and Priceline’s review only came up in November,” said James Fitzgerald, managing director of Media Merchants, told Mumbrella.
According to Nielsen, Priceline spent $13.3m on advertising in 2013.
