Senior leaders from Facebook, Customology and UTS to speak at Mumbrella Retail Marketing Summit 2021

The first speakers at the Mumbrella Retail Marketing Summit for 2021 have been announced, with senior leaders and innovators from Customology, Facebook, and The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) taking to the stage.

The live event on 30 September at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney will see Australia’s retail industry examined and discussed amid an era of increased online shopping, vocal customer values and a changing phase of data collection.

Kate Box

Facebook’s industry director retail Kate Box will provide insight into how the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated behaviours and established new habits among Australian consumers. With retail experiences becoming embedded in day-to-day social media experiences, and attitudes shifting towards shopping not as a necessity but as entertainment, Box will explore how digital marketers can take advantage of this new age of online retail.

Customology CEO & co-founder Mark James examines customer retention against acquisition in a session that will explore key findings from the company’s recent research report. Analysing the attitudes of Australian consumers and revealing what they expect from the brands they purchase from today, James will discuss how to identify and keep your most profitable customers.

Dr Sonika Singh

Meanwhile, Dr Sonika Singh, researcher and lecturer from UTS Business School, will discuss the phenomenon of the luxury brand and reveal how to better engage with the changing expectations of the consumer. Presenting exclusive research, Dr Singh will examine the use of conversational AI agents such as chatbots, often welcomed as a cost-effective and scalable solution, and discusses the real-world effectiveness as a path to success.

Jonathan Reeve (left) and Tim Mason

Jonathan Reeve, general manager APAC of Eagle Eye, together with UK CEO Tim Mason, will explore the challenges and opportunities of direct-to-consumer retail. High profile DTC success stories will be examined, along with a strategic and operational roadmap for brands considering this retail route, plus ways for retailers to make their sales channel more attractive to brands.

Further sessions and speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Mumbrella Retail Marketing Summit will take place in Sydney on 30 September. Tickets are on sale now.
