Seven to air live esports match on 7mate’s screenPLAY
Seven’s video game and esports platform, screenPLAY, will broadcast the esports Overwatch World Cup Group Stage: Sydney event live this weekend, as part of a new partnership between Blizzard Entertainment and Seven West Media.
The news comes almost a month after ScreenPLAY was launched across 7mate and online, aiming to build on Seven’s ‘content everywhere’ strategy.
ScreenPLAY will cross live to the clash between Australia and Sweden, which will see teams battle over objectives and use strategy to take down one another.
The match will feature Sydney’s Overwatch players as they compete to enter to Overwatch World Cup Final in November.
It will run prior to the Richmond Tigers and Greater Western Sydney Giants AFL match on 7mate, commencing at 11:30am.
Late last month, Seven confirmed St George Bank as screenPLAY’s foundational partner.
