Special Group hires creative director Max McKeon

Special Group is continuing to bolster its creative team with the hire of Max McKeon as creative director.

McKeon joins from Colenso BBDO following a two-year stint at the agency. His experience at the agency covers clients DB Export, Monteith’s, Extra, Pedigree, Spark, and Eta.

Since October, Special Group has hired Lea Egan and Sian Binder into the creative department in Sydney, Toby Moore and Luke Thompson to oversee creative duties at its new Melbourne operation, and junior creative duo Matt Bladin and Phoebe Sloan from CHE Proximity.

McKeon said: “I am incredibly excited to be joining such an ambitious and talented group of people at Special Group. Their world-class and award-winning work is truly impressive and I can’t wait to be part of it.”

Prior to his time at Colenso BBDO, McKeon spent three years at Saatchi & Saatchi New York where he worked on the highly awarded ‘It’s a Tide Ad’ Super Bowl spot.

“Max is a huge global talent. He’s had a real habit of making work in the past that’s always given us that gnawing envy feeling,” chief creative officer Julian Schreiber said.

“Not only that, but he’s also grounded and a good human. So, there’s no doubt he’ll make a huge contribution to not just the work, but our entire agency’s culture.”
