Starcom poaches Seek.com.au from Mediacom Melbourne
MediaCom Melbourne has lost the prestigious Seek.com.au to rival Starcom, Mumbrella can reveal.
While the account only had a spend of $6m it is one of the more prestigious Melbourne media accounts given the steadfast rise of the $5.28bn Victorian online job classified based business.
A spokeswoman for Seek this morning confirmed the move saying: “we can confirm we have appointed Starcom.”
The loss is one of a number of accounts lost by Mediacom Melbourne this year it lost RACV in March and chose not to repitch for Pacific Brands.
In July its Melbourne managing director Peter Barrie departed the company, since emerging as the new head for Sensis’ startup digital agency Found and has yet to appoint a successor to head the local division of the agency.
While last month Starcom also picked up Treasury Wine Estates from Mediacom, after it hired Naomi Johnston, who was head of client communication planning at Mediacom and the lead on both Treasury Wine Estates and Seek as client services director of its Melbourne office.

how can an agency go for so long without appointing a successor to Peter Barrie.. keep this up and there may be more clients jumping ship.

Such a shame to see this agency go downhill. I would be questioning the CEO and agency positioning! Mediacom seems to have lost its way…
