Status Quo return for Coles with Whatever You Want
Status Quo have picked up their big red hand guitars for another Coles ad campaign.
After the much talked about (and derided) Down Down Prices Are Down remake for the supermarket, the British rockers have now reworked their 1979 hit Whatever You Want.
The polarising nature of the previous campaign led to it being the most Googled Australian ad of 2012.

Wham….Wallop…Crash….Kapow!! Damn that Dead Horse!!!! Why won’t it stop lying there!!??
OH MY GOD.
:/
Between “Down down prices and down” and “There’s no freshness like Coles freshness” making my eardrums bleed everytime I need to go shopping, this might just kill me.
I BLOODY LOVE IT
kill me please
I love it! I loved them when I was a kid and use to copy Francis with his demin levis, denim vest, white t-shirt and white dunlop volleys!! – classic!
bring it on …
“Artistic integrity be damned, let’s make money” – Status Quo, 2012
Just enjoy it – it’s harmless fun
@skuncwerx
Unless you’re a farmer or other supplier.
Just goes to show to irrelevant and out-of-touch Coles are. Worst ad of the last twelve months.

Sooo… artists shouldn’t make money? Or are you just saying artists should be restricted to particular business models? Perhaps we could set up a government committee to regulate how artists may be allowed to sell their craft.
My wife saw it on air and said “That’s really memorable. What are Woolies doing that I remember?” I reckon she nailed it. It’s about cut -through and this ad has it. So bad, it’s good!
Went from curious…to loving it…to tolerating it…and now with this iteration of the campaign…I am blocking out all reference to it.
Its probably good advertising. Its definitely a terrible, terrible thing for Status Quo’s legacy.
“Saving money is never annoying”
I suppose when your career is not likely to return to it’s former glory, you would take any opportunity to make a living. I doubt that the “Quo” will be remembered in the same esteem as the Stones, the Beatles, or the Doors anyway.
Makes me want to retch…
Hey- we’re talking about it… it’s succeeded on some level at least…
