Ten’s Sandra Sully appointed managing news editor of Ten Daily

Network Ten’s news anchor Sandra Sully will expand her remit, taking on the role of managing news editor of the media company’s new website, Ten Daily.

Sully will continue as presenter of Ten Eyewitness News First at Five in Sydney, and will also be responsible for the editorial direction and management of Ten Daily.

She will also contribute to the website, when it launches later this year.

Sully said she was passionate about digital media and getting people to engage with news across various platforms.

“My new role at Ten Daily is a natural extension of that passion. The digital space is an exciting place to be and Ten Daily will be a strong extension of our news skills and content,” Sully said.

Sully’s expanded role will see her join new executive editor, Lisa Wilkinson, and managing editor, Mel Cornford.

Yesterday, Ten appointed a new director of news content, Ross Dagan.

Network Ten’s chief content officer, Beverley McGarvey said she couldn’t think of anyone “more qualified” to take on the role.

“Sandra was an early adopter in using digital and social media to build on traditional news coverage and create deeper engagement between Ten News and our viewers,” McGarvey said.

A date for launch of the website has not been announced.
