Well, it is true that she did both things. Britain already well divided by its own class structure, found itself torn apart and reconstructed by Thatcherism.
Later it was reunited to a degree (mainly nostalgic) by the Falklands war and even later torn apart again.
She was a great politician, a mighty and strong leader, but she was also seriously flawed in her single mindedness and by her solid streak of antiquated conservatism.
Like Kevin Rudd, she was ousted by her own party; in his case it might have been soon enough, but in Thatcher’s case, it was way too late.
