The Brag wants readers to buy their writers a coffee with new donation feature

Music and entertainment publisher The Brag Media has introduced a ‘buy the writer a coffee’ scheme to allow readers to donate directly to writers.

The feature launched across Tone Deaf, The Brag, The Industry Observer, Don’t Bore Us and The Brag Dad, and involves a micropayment system attached to each article. The writer receives 70% of the fee, with The Brag Media keeping 30% as an administration fee.

“We are so excited to roll out this feature across The Brag Media’s titles. We’re always looking for fun ways to connect our fans with our content creators and with this idea coming direct from the fans, we just had to jump on it,” said managing editor Poppy Reid.

“I don’t personally drink coffee though, maybe shout me a tea?”

The initiative comes after readers expressed a desire to support writers directly, and means they can choose how much to donate and leave a personalised note for the writer.

The Brag Media employs 18 staff across Sydney and Melbourne.
