‘They need to be on the front foot’: Why Nine must address workplace report at its Upfront
With Nine Entertainment set to present its Upfronts on Thursday afternoon in Sydney, it is not yet known if the company will address its workplace report released last week.
The bombshell report – issued by third-party consultancy firm Intersection – offered up 22 recommendations to improve the workplace, with acting CEO Matt Stanton since telling staff that “active investigations” are underway, while a law firm has also reportedly been engaged to look into allegations of misconduct.
Appearing on a new episode of the Mumbrellacast, Pure Public Relations founder, Phoebe Netto, said it is vital that the report is addressed by its leadership team at the Upfronts.
“I don’t see how they can not,” she said.
“The rule of thumb is if somebody is going to find out about an issue already on their own, then you should be the one that proactively talks about it first so that you can control the message. So in this instance, it’s going to be brought up whether they mention it themselves or it comes through a question or a comment.
“So they need to be on the front foot so that the message is contained and on their terms so that they have a chance to talk about some of the other good things that they are actually doing and be able to look ahead.
“Otherwise, they’re not going to be able to move past this point if they don’t say something themselves before it’s asked.”

As a current nine employee I will admit the findings were not a shock. What a majority of my colleagues and I want is clear transparency and those who have got away with toxic and illegal practices to be removed from the workplace. We are just hoping it will not be swept under the rug.

Wonder if that will also include toxic ex-employees
