Triple M’s Moonman in the Morning to host its own replacement Logies event

The Logie Awards have been cancelled for 2020, but the team at Triple M’s breakfast team Moonman in the Morning will be hosting their own version of the event – Rudi Vanderstone’s Steaming Brown Logies.

On Friday, June 26, Triple M Sydney’s TV critic Rudi Vanderstone will name the winners from a number of categories, including Worst Talent on Australian TV in 2020 and Reality TV Shtinkers.

Declaring the coverage would cover the categories the ‘TV industry is too scared to touch’, Rudi’s Steaming Brown Logies will begin with a Brown Carpet and air live from 8:30am on Triple M Sydney.

Up for The Steaming Brown Logie, or worst talent, are The Project’s Peter Helliar, Tommy Little and Waleed Aly; A Current Affair’s Tracy Grimshaw; Sunrise’s David Koch, and ABC’s Julia Zemiro.

The Newest Nugget, the award for ‘best new talent that has caused the most pain to the viewers sensory system’ has no nominees because ‘nothing is new in the sewer of Australian television.

Ten’s Dancing with the Stars and I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here and Nine’s The Block and Married At First Sight are all up for Reality Television Shtinkers, while the category of Ordinary Losers Competing on the Television and Humiliating Themselves features Lego Masters, My Kitchen Rules and The Voice.

The Tiger King, The Crown, The Last Dance and Unorthodox are all competing for Steaming Streaming and under Mutts, Mongrels and Half Breeds, Pooch Perfect, Gardening Australia and, in a repeat appearance, Married At First Sight, are taking part.

The Logie Awards have been cancelled for 2020 due to the impact COVID-19 had on the industry. The event is typically organised by Nine and Bauer Media’s TV Week.

The 2021 Logies, TV Week said, will be an “epic event” which will award programming and personalities from the 12 months just gone, and the remainder of the 2020 calendar year.
