‘Unbelievable’ new Furphy campaign celebrates the AFL rookie via Thinkerbell

Lion’s Furphy beer is ‘unbelievable’ in a new spot from Thinkerbell, celebrating the start of the AFL season.

The campaign follows a handful of people gossiping to friends and colleagues about the sporting feats of ‘the rookie’, creating narratives that are almost too good to be true.

Richmond Tigers AFL players Nick Vlastuin and Toby Nankervis are featured in the spot.

Chris Allan, head of marketing, core beer, said the new brand work encourages consumers to adapt to the next generation of footy.

“Building on our support of a number of AFL and AFLW teams, we’re pumped to continue to instill unbelievable footy moments into culture. We are celebrating all things footy, including the odd furphy, to kick off what we hope will be an unbelievable footy season.”

Sesh Moodley, head creative thinker at Thinkerbell, said: “Everyone, from the die-hard to the casual fan, has something to say about footy. Be it outlandish predictions, embellished stories, or sporting prowess gone next level. We all love to chat footy and we’re proud to be able to do it in an entertaining way here.”

The campaign comes after Furphy announced its official beer partnership with Channel 7’s Front Bar TV show, with Mick Molloy, Andy Maher and Sam Pang. Furphy has also sponsored a number of AFL and AFLW teams, including the Demons, the Saints, the Tigers and the Swans.
