Vogue Australia announces Vogue Fashion’s Night In 2020

Vogue Australia have announced Vogue Fashion’s Night In 2020 in partnership with American Express.

The announcement:

Vogue Australia editor-in-chief Edwina McCann today announced the launch of Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night In 2020, running the retail event online for the first time in its 11 year history from 22 October to 1 November 2020.

Vogue Australia and presenting partner American Express have reimagined the annual Fashion’s Night Out event this year to host Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night In, an 11 day national festival of fashion and beauty featuring a series of virtual events all designed to reinvigorate the local retail and fashion industry.

Ms McCann said: “It’s incredible how this Vogue Australia event continues to develop. It was founded by Anna Wintour in 2009, with the intention of helping retailers survive the GFC. In 2020 amidst the backdrop of a global pandemic, Fashion’s Night Out will become Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night In, and we are pulling the event back to its core purpose – to ignite retail spend and create sizable economic impact for the retail and fashion sectors.

“We are delighted to have American Express partner with us for the fifth consecutive year. Their investment in the event ensures we deliver strong connection with our participating retailers and our consumers. I would also like to thank the City of Sydney and City of Melbourne for their continued support of this important retail initiative. We will all work together to deliver the very best experience for our customers and provide retail outcomes over an extended period.”

American Express vice president of brand, charge cards and experiences Naysla Edwards said: “Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night In will take the traditional evening of fun to a new virtual space.

“From the comfort of their homes, all of our Card Members can continue to enjoy the benefits of membership with a virtual runway show. Selected Card Members can watch interviews with designers and exclusive behind the scenes content. The Australian retail industry has been hit hard, and we’re proud to back hundreds of online retailers with our exclusive Card Member offer, giving the business community the support it needs now.”

All of the Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night In participating retailers will feature on vogue.com.au with a product gallery and shoppable links to their e-commerce stores. Store listings will be live over the 11 day event period.

Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night In Sydney will host a series of hyperlocal online events and offers to continue to support Sydney retailers and will also feature a live event on Thursday 22 October in the Sydney CBD in partnership with the City of Sydney. Celebrating its eleventh year, the event will have a reduced footprint of in-store and in-centre activations rather than large on-mall activations, to allow for social distancing guidelines.

Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night In Melbourne, which normally sits within the official Melbourne Fashion Week program, will this year precede the event when it returns with a revised program. Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night In Melbourne will host a series of hyperlocal online events and offers, to continue to support the rebuild of Melbourne’s retailer community. The City of Melbourne has partnered with Vogue Australia on its flagship event since 2015.

Bassike has again collaborated with the Vogue Australia team on the design of the official 2020 Vogue t-shirt. The t-shirt is 100% organic cotton jersey, sustainably made in Australia and available to purchase at bassike.com.
