‘Watch a Dog Become a Legend’: Greyhound Racing NSW builds tension ahead of the TAB Million Dollar Chase

Ahead of the third TAB Million Dollar Chase, Greyhound Racing NSW is building tension with a campaign backed by a pounding heartbeat.

The new campaign aims to get greyhound racing fans engaged with the sport, as limited crowds will be able to witness the TAB Million Dollar Chase live from the stands due to COVID-19.

Tony Mestrov, CEO of Greyhound racing NSW, explained: “It was very important to us for our participants, and we are delighted that despite unprecedented times around the world, we are able to stage our premier event again in 2020.

“As we have made it clear around previous editions of this race, the welfare of our animals is at the forefront of everything we do, and again in 2020 all entry fees paid for the MDC will go to Greyhounds As Pets NSW an organisation which continues to do a magnificent job of rehoming dogs after their racing careers.”

The race will be live streamed on thedogs.com.au.

The print execution

The campaign, from Bastion Banjo, features last year’s winner, Good Odds Harada, in an effort to point out how the triumphant dogs become legends of the sport.

In highlighting Good Odds Harada’s athletic physique, Banjo’s managing partner, Andrew Varasdi, said the campaign educates the public on “what amazing animals greyhounds are.”

“We are delighted to again have had the opportunity to work on this campaign for GRNSW, promoting the world’s richest greyhound race. For us, the focus was again about the greyhounds themselves, acknowledging what incredible, graceful athletes they are.

“In these uncertain times it is encouraging to see the public take notice as greyhounds adoptions through the GRNSW initiative Greyhounds As Pets, have been increasing over the past 6 months.”

Last year’s Million Dollar Chase campaign from Bastion Banjo positioned the sport of greyhound racing as ‘poetry in motion’.

The TAB Million Dollar Chase will take place on October 16. In the lead up, the campaign will run on digital, TV on Nine, and print through News Corp Australia’s The Daily Telegraph.
