Dr Mumbo

When no-one wants to hear from Ed Kavalee

Ed Kavalee may frequently take home the Have You Been Paying Attention? trophy for his pithy one-liners, but he’s somewhat struggling to get a laugh in recent episodes of Amazon Prime’s local original Last One Laughing.

Kavalee, who came out strong in the opening episodes, has instead become the butt of other comedians’ jokes about his failed 2Day FM Breakfast show alongside Grant Denyer and Em Rusciano.

Ed ‘No-one wants to hear from you’ Kavalee

The aim of the show, Dr Mumbo will remind you, is to be funny, but also to not laugh at others’ jokes (or indeed your own). Kavalee is currently on notice for being too “passive” in the game.

This hasn’t stopped other comedians though from coming for Kavalee though, with comedy stalwart Frank Woodley, perhaps accidentally on purpose, telling the room Kavalee was on breakfast radio.

Anne Edmonds, dressed as everyone’s drunk and lecherous Aunt Carole, asked Kavalee “How’s that goin’ darlin’?”

Kavalee, boxed into a comedy corner, decided to stick with the facts. “Well the breakfast one didn’t go very well, but I’m doing drive at the moment.”

“What happened with breakfast love?”, Carole, now rolling around on the floor, asked, to which Kavalee revealed “There was some feedback”, which translated to “We were on a show, and then one day we weren’t.”

In the next episode, when Kavalee attempted a gag about his “anus”, Edmonds, now dressed as herself, put him firmly back in his corner.

“No-one wants to hear from you, that’s why your breakfast radio show was axed.”

Perhaps that’s why Kavalee has been so quiet.
