Whybin/TBWA wins Tourism Tasmania account
Tourism Tasmania has appointed Whybin/TBWA Melbourne for its $1.4m advertising contract – and fired the starting gun on a search for a media agency.
The tender process for the three year contract began in late 2008 with more than 30 agencies – although none from Tasmania – initially bidding for the account. Leo Burnett, One Digital and Spinach were reported to also be on the final shortlist.
The contract will commence in three weeks time, with Tourism Tasmania now calling for expressions of interests from agencies to handle media buying. The account had previously been held by Photon agency Love, which was dissolved into AdPartners in March.
The appointment comes just a few weeks after a marketing misstep with the Tasmania brand. A tender was announced to create a TV show to promote the state, and then cancelled within days.
