Woman’s Day… the wrong day
Dr Mumbo is glad that he’s not the chief sub of Woman’s Day. The May 18 edition of the ACP title has gone on sale coverlined April 18.
This is not a strategy that maximises newsstand sales. However, as Dr Mumbo has been involved in similar cock-ups in a previous incarnation, it’s probably best not to snigger too much.

What a nightmare. I’ve done it too. Funny how five different people can look at a magazine cover and every one of them can miss it…

From experience, I can tell you it’s a VERY embarrassing confession to make to your publisher. Best to go for a lot of mea culpas and beg for forgiveness.
Then go and apologise to the circulation department who have to let the distributors know, so they can tell every single newsagent.
Still, I do have a friend who was night subbing a regional edition of a major British tabloid. He sent the edition to press with no cover price on it. They had to turn round the lorries for that one.

Speaking of which, Ninemsn’s home-page shows the weather each day – but for the past two days it starts with Monday’s weather. Is this some plot to save money, does the BOM discount for yesterday’s weather “forecast”? It could be more accurate that way I suppose!

Woolworths was misspelled on the spine of the most recent Woolworths Good Taste. I’m sure Woolies loved that one.

Has anyone else also noticed that the Australian Women’s Weekly comes out on a monthly basis? Curious…!

Slightly off topic…but have we previously discussed why Woman’s Day is using a man, dressed as a satire of a closed minded, bigoted middle-class Aussie housewife to sell their brand? I need someone to explain the strategy to me! And is it working?
