Do you work at the Herald Sun? Our sympathies
Dr Mumbo is aware of the various challenges facing print media in 2018 – but he didn’t realise the Herald Sun had somehow achieved charitable status.
Luckily for him, two “Millennial journalists”, Comedy Central’s Becky Lucas and Cameron James, have explained why purchasing the Melbourne paper is exactly like buying The Big Issue.
“If anyone knows anyone who works for Herald Sun…,” James said in a video to Mumbrella’s Entertainment Marketing Summit.
“Give them our sympathies,” Lucas interrupts.
“Please pass on our regards. I feel like buying the Herald Sun is like buying the Big Issue,” explains James.
“It’s an act of charity.”
“For people who are soon to be unemployed.”
“You are sort of giving back twice, you give back the moment you buy it and then you give back the moment that you leave it on a train seat for someone else to pretend to read,” Lucas said.
Dr Mumbo also learned the youths love Vice: “I actually wrote a really good article for Vice. It says ‘I went home with a little person and he didn’t make me cum, am I a bad person?’,” Lucas quipped.
Dr Mumbo ends the video wishing he was a Millennial – but if nothing else, he hopes to one day hear the ‘Loud Bitch and the Dumb Bloke’ radio show.
Lefties don’t like the Herald Sun – wow, didn’t know that.

Problem with all the Murdoch Press is is its not listening, its lecturing. We expect Brands to listen to us these days and if they don’t we move on, to Brands like Vice. On top of this there just isn’t any good investigative journalism anymore, it’s just opinion columns. Again brands like Vice are crushing them on this.
By the time we read a news paper, it’s already old news and gossip is available everywhere online. There is still room for News Papers but they have to understand how they fit in a social media world and play to their strengths.

“For people who are soon to be unemployed.”
Well at least those people dont work for Fairfax…as they would have been unemployed years ago.
HS print has readership close to 1M, add on digital and you still have a powerful voice in both advertising and editorial.
I know its the popular opinion to hate on newscorp…and Murdoch…but they will be around long after this website bites the dust.
My charity act today…reading and responding to the above article.

Rupert Murdoch has been hating on the 99% of the population, ever since he took over the publishing business, (after of course inheriting it from his Daddy).
Truly, I do not have enough fingers for the smear, spin and hatred that has came out of his stable over the years. Fingers crossed, it is slowly coming to an end. It is.
