Yahoo Finance head takes on news and lifestyle with latest promotion

Belinda Grant-Geary has been promoted to head of news and lifestyle at Yahoo Australia

Yahoo Australia has revealed the journalist and editor who is stepping into its new head of news and lifestyle role.

Belinda Grant-Geary will assume the leadership position effective immediately. The promotion will see her step away from her current role as head of Yahoo Finance Australia — a position she has held from September 2023.

Before Yahoo, Grant-Geary spent more than six years at Nine. While there she worked in several producer and editor roles, before wrapping up her stint as the company’s news and features editor.

As the head of news and lifestyle, Grant-Geary’s responsibilities cover editorial strategy, growing audience engagement, widening the reach of Yahoo’s content, and leading the news and lifestyle team.

“It’s a privilege to step into this role and build on the incredible work of the News and Lifestyle teams,” she said in a press release.

“Australians turn to Yahoo every day for stories that matter to them, and I look forward to finding new ways to engage audiences and ensure our journalism continues to inform, inspire and connect communities.”

In the same release, Yahoo Australia’s director of content, Euan Black, praised Grant-Geary’s work with Yahoo Finance, and the “leadership and editorial vision” that’s believed she’ll bring to the role.

“Belinda has been a driving force behind the success of Yahoo Finance, delivering high-quality journalism that resonates with audiences and strengthens our brand,” Black said.

“Her appointment as Head of News & Lifestyle reflects her leadership and editorial vision, and I’m excited to see her bring that expertise to deliver journalism that connects with Australians in new and meaningful ways.”

In the August Ipsos Iris rankings for 2025, Yahoo gained 245,000 readers.
