Hadley’s billions
Dr Mumbo was pleased to see ABC managing director Mark Scott tweet that his budget problems had been solved this morning.
Although to be honest he was a little surprised to see that it was 2GB radio shock jock Ray Hadley who had solved the problem of how to fund the $308m in cuts, over five years, being imposed by the government.
Where did the $4bn come from – was it down the back of the At the Movies set as they were packing it up?
Actually it was Ray’s Daily Telegraph column which reports that the ABC gets $5.2bn while SBS gets a further $1.3bn a year. Yes per year.
The ABC budget, prior to the cuts and including transmission costs remains at $1.1bn. While SBS has a budget of $400m, but Dr Mumbo wonders what the organisations would do if they suddenly found their budgets quadrupled?

Maybe Hadley would like to look at my pension. I could do with a bit of a financial boost. The trouble is a lot of Telegraph readers will believe it.

That’s about s accurate as the rest of their reporting. Why is everyone shocked. Maybe it was fact checked by Alan Jones.

Close the ABC and SBS. Start again with one balanced public broadcaster. 80% of the staff are not able to get jobs in the commercial world so we could actually hire trained professionals.

@ Tassie Dave. This is the sad fact that beggars belief. The sheep who believe every word of the shock jocks and Murdoch press are the sheep who then LNP screw over the most, yet vote them in. In it truly a crazy world. I would love to see Mumbrella write a feature, based on whether Murdoch’s reach will diminish, or grow with social channels…..? The sheep get manipulated very easily by Murdoch and the rest of the knee jerk probe brigade. Again, it is very sad.
