PHD wins PepsiCo’s $30m media account

PHD has won the media buying account for PepsiCo.

The account was previously with Eighty K’s. Mumbrella understands that Mindshare was also in the running for the account.

The shakeup was partly triggered after Yum Brands, which was part of the same buying group, shifted from Carat to Mediacom last month.

The announcement said:

“PepsiCo Australia has appointed PHD to be their media agency of record for all media planning and buying, leveraging the PepsiCo and Omnicom global media arrangement.

“The appointment covers all PepsiCo businesses in Australia, including Pepsi, Pepsi Max, Gatorade, Mountain Dew, Smith’s, Doritos, Red Rock Deli, Grain Waves and Sakata.

“The appointment is effective from 1st September 2010.

“Bellamy Hayden will remain the media strategy agency for PepsiCo’s beverage brands in Australia.

“PHD and PepsiCo are looking forward to a great new working relationship.”

The win comes weeks after PHD won the $14m account of home shopping giant Guthy-Renker.
