ABC names replacements for Michael Rowland and Tony Armstrong
The ABC has announced who will replacing ABC News Breakfast anchor Michael Rowland and popular sports reporter Tony Armstrong in 2025.
Regular correspondent James Glenday will replace Rowland, while sports presenter Catherine Murphy will be the permanent replacement for Tony Armstrong. Both reporters are regulars on the program already.
Glenday will join co-host Bridget Brennan, who replaced Rowland’s former co-host Lisa Millar who left the show in August.
Information which people want is very poor on television. This show is getting very much like Commercial TV.Personal comments and personal expression of their opinions are not what people need to hear. There are people watching who need accurate information not information which expresses personal opinions of presenters.
I enjoy the programme for the most part, but I don’t see the need for interviews with singers, actors, playwrights, movie reviews and authors etc. I am looking for up to date verified Australian and Worldwide NEWS information and not a show that is put on a loop and replayed. I would also like more informative weather sections. This section of the programme is so pared down and rushed that we only get bare details. Take sport out and give it a programme of its own then lengthen the weather sections in the programme.
I stopped watching ABC Morning News some years ago because Michael Rowland was embarrassingly inept in his interviews, and just basically rude to any Liberal or National Party or National Party member of parliament who happened to be in their sights at the time. As for Lisa Millar, words fail me, so the arrival of James Glenday and Bridget Brennan is a breath of fresh air. I’ll be tuning in as from tomorrow.
This lineup of presenters has deficiencies both individually and collectively. A key feature is that they are all very boring with the sports presenters in particular devoid of a depth of knowledge across all sports. As a regular viewer over many years I will be rarely tuning in but unfortunately probably only to check how poor things have become. I can’t see this show lasting.
The first thing I do every morning is tune in to the ABC breakfast show, while my coffee is brewing. I enjoy this program and the varied presenters. My favourite is Nate and his weather forecast. He knows what he is talking about. I love those dimples.
