AJF appoints veteran creative Scott Walker as ECD for agency’s new era

AJF Partnership has brought in experienced executive creative director Scott Walker to lead the agency’s creative department as internal restructuring continues.

Walker replaces Josh Stephens, co-founder and ECD of the agency who left last month, with Adam Francis also stepping back from his role.

His appointment is the latest in a series of changes at the GrowthOps agency, which also last month saw the departure of co-founder Andrew Foote as the agency moves away from a founder-led model.

In November, Mumbrella revealed the agency had laid off around 10 staff as newly hired managing director Con Frantzeskos began to restructure the agency in light of recent business transformation.

Walker joins the agency with over 30 years experience across advertising, TV broadcast, fashion and film production, rejoining the advertising industry after a stint focusing on his entertainment and film pursuits.

Returning to Sydney after multiple decades working abroad, primarily in the UK, Walker has previously held senior creative roles at DDB UK, Dentsu Aegis Network in Europe, Fetch, BBDO and Proximity, amongst others.

AJF managing director, Con Frantzeskos said, “Over 17 years, AJF has built a reputation as one of the best and most effective creative agencies in Australia. Our global ECD search sought a person who could build on, enhance and modernise that creative offering.

“In Scott, I believe we’ve found a leader, a brilliant thinker and someone who has clear ideas on how a modern advertising agency should operate. I am excited he is joining us on this journey.”

Of his own appointment, Walker said: “I’m delighted to join such a solid and future-facing brand as AJF, and to partner with an inspirational team to help lead the agency to further and broader success for it and its clients.

“While continuing to capitalise on its foundational successes, AJF’s vision for the future, and desire to broaden its scope, is hugely exciting for me to be part of and lead creatively.

“I also feel privileged to be part of the GrowthOps network and the visionary group of businesses and people that sit within its fold.

“Returning to Australia after 14 years working across all four corners of the globe, it’s nice to finally find an agency to call home that truly has a worldly vision but plays locally, and plays very well indeed.”
