Aussie cricket win helps Nine lift Tuesday ratings trophy
Australia’s second thumping win over New Zealand to reclaim the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy for the first time since 2011 helped Nine dominate another quiet evening of TV.
In the second one day international Australia’s David Warner and Pat Cummins led the team to a 116 run victory at Manuka Oval, with the second session of the match the third most watched program of the night.
The evening session airing from 6.30pm on the east coast on Nine managed an average audience of 970,000, down on Sunday’s 1.109m, according to OzTam overnight metro ratings, but was still the most watched non-news program and most watched across all major demographics.
The first session which saw Australia occupy the crease aired from 1.30pm and saw 528,000 viewers.
First Dates UK airing on Seven at 7.30pm lost traction from last week’s 586,000 to 470,000 while Ten’s Modern Family repeat managed 364,000.
ABC’s Simply Nigella which aired at 8pm saw 454,000 viewers compared to Ten’s second Modern Family repeat which managed 383,000.
The 6pm news battle saw Seven News win the timeslot with 1.084m ahead of Nine’s 827,000 viewers, with the 6pm bulletin not running on the main channel in Perth.
Seven saw 1.090m tune in for the news at 6.30pm was the most watched program of the night.
In total audience share Nine took the trophy with 26% beating Seven’s 17.2%, ABC’s 11.5%, Ten’s 10.6% and SBS’s 3.5%.
