Box office: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice remains on top – but the robots are coming

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice remains at the top of the Australian box office for a second week, however a robot-sized challenger is coming out this week in the form of Transformers One.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice took $2.41 million this weekend, bringing its total box office to $7.12 million.

And speaking of robots, The Wild Robot had a weekend of preview screenings at HOYTS which saw it take in $851,000 – enough to be the second highest grossing film this weekend.

Deadpool & Wolverine brought in another $827,000 in its eighth week of release, bringing its total box office to a massive $64.54 million, while new release thriller, Speak No Evil (staring James McAvoy and Mackenzie Davis), took in $706,000.

It Ends With Us was the fifth-highest grossing film in its sixth week of release, adding $479,000 to a box office total that now stands at $21.77 million.

Punjabi title Ardaas Sarbat De Bhalle Di earned $393,000 in its opening weekend, while school holiday release, The Purple Crayon, took $345,000 in its first week.

Lower down the box office rankings, Alien: Romulus added another $335,000, brining its box office total to $95.2 million; Thelma took $230,000, and Blink Twice added another $142,000 to bring its Australian takings to $2.3 million.
