Independent agency Edge has made two new hires, continuing its growth into 2021.

Ed Popa joins the agency as senior account director, while Jaime Smith has been appointed media manager in its growing media team.

Popa was previously at Banjo Advertising where he was senior account director on its NSW Government COVID-19 response team. At Edge he will take responsibility for the JDE account, involving brands Moccona, L’Or and Harris Coffee.

Nicole Gardener, executive director of account management at Edge, said: “We’re excited to have Ed on board to work across these key clients. Ed’s a character who brings heart and intelligence to his work. Having his experience across these key accounts will be fantastic and he’s someone who’s going to bring great energy to the team.”

Smith joins after two years as a campaign manager at Unruly in London and Sydney. Previously, she spent time at Zip Co as a marketing coordinator.

Edge partner, Richard Parker, commented: “The timing of Jaime’s arrival is perfect. Our media business has grown exponentially over the last three years as clients see the benefit of more integrated thinking and quicker, more efficient execution. Jaime’s a very talented individual with some unique experience that adds immediate value to the team.”

Last year, Wunderman Thompson’s national chief creative officer, Simon Langley joined Edge as its creative partner. The agency also reinforced its media team with a partnership with Mutiny for its media investment analytics platform, Warchest.
