Erin Molan signs new contract with SCA, as breakfast trio are locked in for 2023

2DayFM breakfast host Erin Molan has revealed she recently signed a new radio deal with Southern Cross Austereo, amid speculation she is set to be replaced by Carrie Bickmore.

Molan posted on her LinkedIn on Monday that she was announcing she “signed a new radio deal a couple of months back”, and that revealing it now was “completely unprompted”, with the line complemented by a wink face emoji.

SCA confirmed to Mumbrella that the trio of Erin, Ed, and Hughesy are locked in for breakfast on 2Day in 2023.

This followed shortly after several reports yesterday morning that the recently departed host of The Project, Carrie Bickmore could be set to replace Molan on the breakfast show after almost two years alongside Dave Hughes and Ed Kavalee.

Bickmore currently presents the national drive program on SCA’s The Hit Network, alongside Tommy Little, and SCA confirmed to Mumbrella she would continue in this slot.

The trio has been the latest in a long line of attempts by the network to replace Kyle and Jackie O, who migrated to ARN’s KIIS FM in 2014.

Since then, the network has seen a number of talent pass through the breakfast slot, including Merrick Watts, Jules Lund, Sophie Monk, Mel B, Dan Debuf, Maz Compton, Rove McManus, Sam Frost, Harley Breen, Em Rusciano, Ash London and Grant Denyer.

It appears Molan, who also signed on to present a new Sunday night program on Sky News Australia, was responding to critics of the program, which landed a 3.7% share in the sixth ratings survey of the year.

“Love our breakfast show listeners (the number of whom has almost DOUBLED in a year 🙏🙌😘) and feel very grateful to be part of Southern Cross Austereo ❤️ #hughesyedanderin”, she added.

SCA was contacted regarding the extension of Molan’s contract, and any potential shift in its presenter lineup.
