Freeview targets bathroom catch-up TV viewers as Freemans return

Free-to-air catch-up TV app Freeview has launched its third TV campaign, again featuring the Freeman family and their neighbours.

The new series of five TVCs will roll out over the next 12 months, with the first spot showing how convenient it is to watch live and catch-up TV via the Freeview app, including in the bathroom.

“Apparently, 40% of Australians take their mobile into the bathroom with them, so making a campaign based on a mobile-first product really lets us have some fun with the Freemans,” said Freeview CEO Liz Ross.

“The latest OzTAM data shows that Australians downloaded 1.5 billion minutes of live catch-up and live stream content last month. Freeview is committed to developing products that allow Australians a seamless viewing experience, no matter where or how they want to watch their TV programs,” continued Ross.

Launched last year, Freeview FV claims to be the world’s first collaboration between free-to-air TV networks on a mobile-first app, with Ross being invited to present on the venture at next month’s International Broadcast Conference in Amsterdam.
