Hi Stuart, no never been a journo or worked for News. The smugness just irritates me beyond belief when I watch an aggregator of other people ‘s content, AKA Mumbrella, criticise those who are actually investing in content creation. Mumbrella don’t do much quality journalism as far as I can tell. They just report what all the other outlets report. Useful, yes. Noble, not really. So, better to climb off their high horse. Others commenters said it better than me – schadenfreude and letting those without sin cast the first stone etc.

I’ll step in here. Interesting you have gone to the stereotype we are an “aggregator of other people’s content”. Let’s take today’s newsletter – seven out of 13 items were completely original (i.e not been reported anywhere else and exclusive), five were important releases with added context (including a couple of campaigns) and one was aggregated – the morning update we do every night of the most interesting international content – a useful service that links to those sites.
Last week we broke one of the biggest stories of the year, one that is related to the company you work for which I’m sure you saw.

And it’s probably also worth pointing out the Dr Mumbo section is a diary column, so rather than “smugness” should be read as “tongue in cheek”.
You’re right we do make mistakes, and when that happens we own up to them.

Just wondering. If Mumbrella is accused of being an aggregator, why not Limited News? What with all the pre-written PR pieces, the stories from other publications, the rip-off from people’s FB pages. Very little “original” work from MSM. Can’t see how aggregator tag gets applied to one, in contrast with another?
And yeah, the Mumbrella typos drive me crazy too, but I find typos littering the MSM now too, since all the subs got sacked.
