Jim Groves replaces Adam Marshall as Carat Perth’s MD

The Perth arm of Dentsu Aegis Network’s Carat has a new managing director.

Jim Groves, who has most recently been managing director of WPP’s Geometry Global, will take over from June 4, filling the void left by Adam Marshall – Marketforce and OMD WA’s newest CEO.

Marshall’s departure was revealed in March and he became the third person to occupy the Marketforce/ OMD WA CEO role over the past year, with agency stalwart John Driscoll announcing his departure in June before popping up as Western Australia CEO at Seven West Media. Driscoll’s replacement Paul Everingham then left in February.

Groves will take over from Marshall and pick up the reins of the 50-plus strong team who look after clients including Rio Tinto, Cash Converters, Credit Union Australia and the Western Australian government.

Carat CEO Paul Brooks said Groves had “transformative leadership” skills, which would be integral to his success at one of the agency’s fastest-growing offices.

“Carat’s position as an agency in Perth is evolving at pace. We’re looking to take our offering to the next level, and need a leader who can galvanize the considerable talent in the team and steer us toward that growth. Jim has a great track record of doing just that, so we’re very excited to have him on board,” he said.

Michelle Testa – who started with the agency in March – has been fulfilling the MD duties in an acting capacity, and will return to her role as general manager, with Brooks paying tribute to her efforts.

“Michelle has done a fantastic job leading the agency in the interim – they will no doubt make a great team,” he said.

Groves said: “I am excited to be part of driving change and growth as we enter a new phase of the Denstu Aegis journey.”
