John Casey joins Foxtel as group director of marketing

Following a series of changes to its team, Foxtel has announced John Casey as its group director of marketing.

Casey’s appointment to the newly created role comes five months after Kieren Cooney joined Foxtel as its chief marketing officer.

James Casey joins on March 22

Cooney replaced Andy Lark who left the business after just nine months.

The appointment of Casey comes after head of sports marketing, Adam Ballesty, departed after six months and long-serving general manager of advertising sales and brand partnerships, Andrew Mulready, stepping down earlier this week.

A Foxtel spokesperson confirmed Cooney will remain as the company’s CMO.

Foxtel’s new group director of marketing, Casey, joins the business from his previous role as V8 Supercars’ chief sales and marketing officer.

Prior to working with V8 Supercars, Casey held a position as the general manager of marketing for the National Broadband Network (NBN) for just one year.

Before he started at the NBN, Cooney was the CMO at a telecommunications company in New Zealand and the CMO at Vodafone.

In an internal memo sent to staff, a Foxtel spokesperson said: ”

“In order to ensure we continue to elevate all areas of Foxtel’s Marketing Communications, we have created a new role – Group Director, Marketing.

“I’m thrilled to say that John Casey will be joining Foxtel to take up this role. John comes to us from Supercars. Prior to this he has had a long and celebrated career in marketing, including Vodafone and NBN Co. John will start with us on 22 March.

“The key roles that will report into this new role are: Entertainment Marketing, Sports Marketing, Product Marketing, Brand and Retail Marketing.”
