Kate Ritchie and Nova’s big radio shake up foiled by rogue outdoor ad
Dr Mumbo loves breaking news. But even this one required a double-take while on an evening stroll today.
Like most media enthusiasts, Dr Mumbo was taken by surprise this afternoon when Ricki-Lee Coulter made her move to Nova’s national drive show permanent. But many were left wondering, what is Kate up to?
What’s that!? Kate Ritchie is joining Fitzy and Wippa? Well, I never! Who would’ve guessed?!
This premature ad was spotted by Dr Mumbo mere hours after Nova spilled the beans on Coulter’s permanent return to radio beside Tim Blackwell and Joel Creasey.
After Ritchie took a break from the show in October, Coulter was her stand-in, and Nova will have been hoping to keep tight-lipped about Ritchie’s “new project”, set to be revealed tomorrow.
Well, they could’ve waited 12 more hours on promoting the show…

Update: This morning Nova and Ritchie made the move official.
“Kate Ritchie said: “I am so excited to be joining Fitzy and Wippa in the very competitive breakfast slot. I’m a huge fan of the show and I’ve been great mates with the boys for years. The past eight years on Drive has been an important part of my life but I’m thrilled to take on this new challenge by returning to breakfast radio in my hometown. I can’t wait to wake up Sydneysiders beside two of the industry’s much loved breakfast announcers.”
Fitzy & Wippa said: “We’ve been annoying Kate around the office for over ten years, now we get to do it every morning. We are excited for our audience to hear how funny Kate thinks we are. Nova listeners have always loved Kate and now she’ll be served up every weekday. Please enjoy your breakfast.”

Wonder what happened to Sarah, the show’s producer and she played a strong on air role for so long. I might have missed it, but I don’t recall a ‘farewell’ for her on air?
