Khemistry’s general manager returns to VML Brisbane as new managing partner
Jo Millington has rejoined WPP’s VML as its new managing partner, Brisbane.
She served as VML Brisbane’s client service director from 2017-2022, before moving to full-service marcomm agency Khemistry as its general manager.
Prior to VML, she has experience from Griffith University where she was head of brand, Publicis Australia, Canon, and News Limited.
She will once again partner with the agency’s clients while also leading key initiatives in Brisbane, as the agency enters its second year under the returned VML name. She will work closely with VML Brisbane and Perth’s managing director Adam Kennedy and other key leaders to propel agency growth and success.
“Everyone that’s met Jo, knows she’s a force of nature. She’s an energiser, problem solver and truth teller that loves partnering with clients to create breakthrough work,” Kennedy said. “In recruiting for this role, we met some amazing national and international candidates, but Jo was the perfect choice to help lead the agency into the future.
“Along with the wider Brisbane leadership, we make a ripping team and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”
Of her appointment, Millington said: “I am thrilled to return to VML as managing partner in this exciting new chapter. My time at VML was always very special to me and I loved working with Adam and the team.
“This new role offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the agency’s vision alongside Adam, and it feels like the perfect moment to rejoin.”
Chief executive officer of VML AUNZ, Thomas Tearle, said Millington’s a natural fit for the leadership team, and has a proven track record in delivering growth across the agency’s capability set.
“I’m so happy to have her back on the team and believe the combination of Jo, Adam, Andrew Kolb (head of strategy) and Stu Turner (group ECD) is going to be a formidable line up,” he said.
Millington’s former agency, Khemistry, is set to absorb its GrowthOps counterpart, AJF Partnership, in the new year.
The announcement came just a week after the agency’s ECD, Scott Walker, announced he would be leaving AJF to start a new business.
