MEC names Claire Butterworth head of investment to replace Sebastian Rennie

MEC has promoted Sydney trading director Claire Butterworth to national head of investment replacing Sebastian Rennie who was made chief investment officer at GroupM last month.

Butterworth has worked int the Sydney trading director role for over three and a half years, working with Rennie to develop the agency’s Sydney investment capabilities.

MEC Australia CEO Peter Vogel said in a statement: “Having worked closely with Seb, Claire has the knowledge, skills and connections to take over as national head of investment and I couldn’t be more proud to be able to promote from within for what is a seamless transition for our staff and clients. Like Seb before her, Claire will no doubt work tirelessly to implement best-in-class investment solutions for all MEC clients across Australia.”

Previously Butterworth was the group investment director at ZenithOptimedia for three and a half years and has also worked at Starcom, Universal McCann and OMD.

Butterworth, who assumes the post immediately, said: “This is a great opportunity, particularly at a time when the agency is going from strength to strength in business wins and award- winning work, and I am excited to work across a broader range of clients.”
